DIALOGUE: VIOLIN AND ORGAN

4 strings and 2800 pipes! Unique duo brings their musical collaboration to St. John’s

ST. JOHN’S, NL, NOVEMBER 1, 2017 – Daniel Fuchs and Mark McDonald present a unique program of music for violin and organ at D. F. Cook Hall at the Memorial University School of Music on November 9, 2017 at 7:30pm. From evocative sonatas by Bach and Mendelssohn to the complex soundscapes of Arvo Pärt, ‘Dialogue’ is a tour de force for this unique combination of instruments – a meeting of strings and pipes.

Admission is $15 at the door ($10 for students and $5 for MUN concert pass holders). D. F. Cook Hall is located on the Memorial University Campus in the School of Music Building.

Dialogue is a collaboration by violinist Daniel Fuchs and organist Mark McDonald. Fuchs, originally from Montreal, is pursuing his master of music degree at Memorial University. In St. John’s, he is active as a teacher and performer, currently playing with the Newfoundland Symphony and the Memorial University Chamber Orchestra. McDonald is a Montreal-based organist and choir director. He is a recent graduate from the doctoral program at McGill University’s Schulich School of Music and he holds positions as organist at Montreal’s St. James United Church, Temple Emanu-El-Beth-Sholom and the Montreal Diocesan Theological College.
